Sheffield – Rain and Millennium Square

Outside the gardens there is an arrangement of 9 Steel Balls that serve as a water feature. It was commissioned after a design competition was won by Artist Colin Rose. Each of the balls have water that emerges from the top and runs down them like water would during heavy rain on glass. Perhaps unsurprisingly the piece is called Rain.

The building you see in this photograph is commonly known as The Cheese Grater,  and for all it’s oddness is mostly home to a car park. There are other establishments in that building though most of what you see is a rather awesome exterior hiding the cars for all the offices around the local area.
